DIG! DIG! DIG! This is what the boys of Camp Green lake must do everyday. Stanley Yelnats gets sent to a boys detention camp that includes digging one hole a day. Five feet deep and Five feet wide. Holes is an exhilarating, visual, and adventurous book of redemption that has a huge ongoing story.
ReplyDeleteExhilaration is an example of how the boys of tent D dig their holes everyday knowing that finishing gives them time to relax and prepare for the next day. Once you get through the stressful process of digging your 5 x 5 hole you have time to relax in the WRECK ROOM and talk to others. Although the exhilaration of digging holes is not a good exhilaration. It feels like it kills and is very visual in the book.
While digging holes the experience of Stanley Yelnats is very visual. His sweat streaking down to his hands making it harder to dig. Also, his hardcore blisters on his hands having the piercing effects while digging. Another thing is that they describe the characters quite well to put a really good visual or movie ongoing in your head.
After finding the golden tube with the initials KB on them the real adventure begins. Quickly Stanley figures out that the Warden is looking for something hidden in the lake. In this adventure there is the time that Zero runs away and three days later Stanley does too. From there on the adventure is slightly changed to trying to survive and find a way to eat and drink something.
Overall, Holes is an amazing book that I know I will remember for a long time. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and mystery. Will Stanley and Zero survive away from the Camp? Will they find what the Warden is looking for? Witll they ever be able to get out of Camp Green Lake? These questions will be answered only if you read Holes.
